Concord College is an independent co-educational day and boarding school in Shropshire. The campus size is 80 acres.The school is within easy reach of both Manchester and Birmingham International Airports, which takes approximately one and a half hours. London Heathrow Airport is approximately three hours away. It was a traditional boarding school but it is now more like an international school with 85? international students..

 

Academic Success:

Concord College is well-known for its students’ excellent academic performance.It emphasizes more on academic performance than traditional boarding schools. Year 10 students have examinations at school every Saturday to prepare for the public exams. It is obvious that the school is immersed in an academic-oriented atmosphere. Although the school is equipped with sports facilities such as swimming pool and ball pitches, not many students use them often as they spend a lot of time on revision. However, as the students in Concord College study from year 9, the policy is already told from the beginning and it becomes a motivation for students to work hard.

Concord College is a highly academic school. They expect their students to achieve the highest standards and to gain entry to top universities in the UK. It maintains excellent academic reputation with over 97% of A Level results have been graded A*-B and 84% of GCSE grades are 9-7. As the school takes university entry very seriously, there are a lot guidance on higher education provided. Students are guided by their Personal Tutor and by their Head of House as well as by their specialist subject teachers and by members of the senior staff team. Also, there is extra help for the students who wish to study Medicine or go to Oxbridge.

University Destination:

Over 80% of their 2019 leavers are now attending UK Top 10 universities.

Boarding and Pastoral Care for students:

There are 18 boarding residences differing in terms of size and layout in Concord College and there are about 440 boarding places currently available. Each boarding house has at least two Boarding Parents who share the duties in terms of checking on student welfare at bedtime and waking students in the morning. There is a medical centre with two doctor’s surgeries per week and nursing cover seven days a week. There are several night staff (both female and male) who patrol the campus the through the night. The boarding houses also have a CCTV network and electronic security of all doors to ensure that students are kept as safe as is reasonably possible.

Extracurricular Activities:

The Enrichment Programme of Concord College offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities that students may choose to participate in, including sports, outdoor education, charity organisations, creative arts, and many other clubs and societies. The school also organises trips off site, including day trips to places of interest at weekends and during holidays, outdoor educational experiences and opportunities to explore international destinations. The school benefits from a wide range of modern and well equipped facilities. Sports facilities on site include two large sports halls, squash courts, dance studio, aerobics and weight training room, climbing wall, running track, indoor heated swimming pool, football pitches, volleyball courts, all weather basketball and tennis courts, and a high ropes course. There is a student social area for them to relax and enjoy time with friends. The Performing Arts Centre has a large theatre/auditorium for performance and access to two art rooms are also available in this building.
