School Profile:

King William’s College is a co-educational school for Boys:11-18, Girls:13-19 situated on the Isle of Man, and sits not only within acres of its own grounds, but has a stunning sea view.

Academic Success:

Class sizes are usually less than twenty, and the school more or less follows the National School Curriculum. Core subjects aside, there are lots of varying subjects from which to choose, and in sixth form students go on to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma. In senior school, students study GCSE or iGCSE, with many of them choosing to take ten subjects. There is a lot of emphasis on observable progress, with regular in-school examinations and assessments. Biology, chemistry and physics are taught separately, ensuring students are able to show some kind of skill or talent in any of the three major sciences.

University Destination:

Boarding and Pastoral Care for students:

The boarders form about 20% of the entire school body, with about sixty male boarders and fifty-five female boarders, meaning close bonds and a communal sense of spirit is highly beneficial for those who have come from overseas to study at the school. Expansive lounges with accompanying TVs, DVDs and comfortable sofas are complemented by fully furnished kitchens, laundry facilities and study rooms for those requiring a little bit of peace and quiet. For the older pupils they can share or have single rooms with en suite facilities.

Extracurricular Activities:

There are many sporting pursuits available such as Basketball, Cross Country, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Swimming and Tennis. Drama is very popular among the lower and higher years, as shown by the House Drama Festival. Music is uniformly enjoyed by almost the entire student population, with the curriculum providing for practical music composition, available as an iGCSE qualification. Whatever the art form, the school teaches it, and there are regular workshops run by noted artists, through whose encouragement the students exhibit their work locally and competitively
