Mount Kelly is located in Tavistock, a commercial town in the west of England, 4-hour drive from London. The school covers 150 acres and is adjacent to the Dartmoor National Park. The school aims to provide the most complete education for the sons of naval officers and other gentlemen. It was initiated as a boy school and welcomed girls in 1911.

Due to a continuous growing number of students, the current Mount Kelly is merged by Kelly College and Mount House School in 2014, and is the best-developed school in the UK in recent three years.. The school teachers are with good qualifications, and it is believed that the newly recruited science teaching team will bring about an even more remarkable science development. 

Academic Success:

In order to take care of each student’s learning progress, the school practices small group teaching, and each student has a tutor. The school offers one-year GCSE programme, The school also provides English tutorial classes to prepare students for the First Certificate English and GCSE English exam. In the past few years, students have achieved outstanding results in both A-Level and GCSE. In 2019, 85% of all grades in A-Level were A*-B while 41% in GCSE were 9-7. At the pre-matriculation stage, the school also offers career-oriented courses. Students who wish to enter specific sports sector can take the BTEC diploma, which is equivalent to three A-Levels and recognized by UCAS for university application.

The school has a total of 5 dormitories, each with a tutor, who maintains a close relationship with boarders. There is also a school nurse responsible for taking care of the health of students. The dormitories have a harmonious atmosphere. Boarders from the same grade will be arranged to live on the same floor. Dorms are fully equipped with kitchen and lounge, and there are various types of activities on weekends for boarders to participate

Extracurricular Activities:

Mount Kelly has a strong performance in sports; rugby and swimming are among the best. The swimming team has trained over 60 world-class swimmers of which 19 competed at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, winning 6 Olympic and 9 Commonwealth medals between them. In 2016, Mount Kelly 50 Metre Olympic Legacy Swimming Pool, which costed millions of pound, was completed. It is an indoor 8-lane swimming pool that meets with international and even Olympic standard. Students can have training with perfect facilities.

The college also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, the most popular ones including Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award . In addition, the school has a well-equipped adventure centre. Students who wish to seek for excitement can also participate in cliff diving and mud climbing. There are a number of choices for static students as well, such as debate, cooking, and pottery production.
