Woodhouse Grove School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school. Situated on a 70 acres beautiful campus in Countryside of Apperley Bridge in West Yorkshire in the broad Aire Valley.  The school has extensive grounds and conveniently located between close to a major city, Leeds and Bradford, railway and motorway networks.  It is a benefit for the students to travel from the rural location with the advantage of having major cities on their doorstep.  

 

School Profile:

Despite being located less than five miles from the centre of Leeds, Bradford and it only 5 miles from Leeds.  Leeds is a major city in the northern English country of Yorkshire, with a city at the heart of the action, bursting with life and cultural energy.  There are various museums and Victorian shopping arcades in the city.  The school is travelling within 3 miles from Leeds Bradford Airport and one hour travel to Manchester Airport.  The train station is just opposite the road from the school provides direct to Leeds in 9 minutes, Shipley in 3minutes and 30 minutes in Skipton.

International Scholarships:

There are a limited number of Headmaster’s scholarships are awarded annually to exceptional candidates entering the school.  These are awarded as a discount on the full boarding or day fees. Academic Scholarships are awarded on the results of the entrance examination, a pupil interview and a report from the applicant’s current school.  The Headmaster's Award for Music, Drama, Sports, Art and Design Technology is available upon application to the Headmaster.  These are awarded based on audition/portfolio or evidence of achievement.

University Destination:

There was some outstanding academic performance accepted the offer from Peterhouse College, Cambridge and the rest of the student accepted the offer from Russell Group University.

Boarding and Pastoral Care for students:

The School believes that all the boarding is bringing the friendships together and take on the responsibility to discover the new talents.  Boarders flourish in the homely atmosphere in the boarding house.  There are two boarding houses, Miller Boarding house for girls and Broadwell House for boys.  Each house has a unique character whilst sharing key values and also offers modern amenities, WIFI, kitchen, well-appointed bedroom and relaxing common room.

The pupils are assigned a personal tutor who will oversee the pupils’ academic progress and will monitor and guide their commitments to co-curricular activities.

 

Extracurricular Activities:

With comprehensive facilities that the school can offer to pupils a wide range of sports and activities.  The size 36m x 29.2m of the sports hall can be used for badminton, cricket nets, five-a-side football, hockey, netball, tennis and volleyball.

The sports Centre also have the multi gym, the Aerobics Studio, Fitness Suite, Fencing Salle and as well as the 25m Jubilee Pool with excellent water quality a comfortable temperature of 29 degrees and depths range from 9m to 1.8m.  The school also has two squash courts and a climbing wall.

They encourage pupils to recognize the value of these activities as an integral part of their school life.  The school believes that any and every pupil should try and immerse themselves in many of the opportunities available outside the classroom.  There are many opportunities outside the curriculum for personal development.  These wide ranges of activities of muti-sport, Zumba, Chess and Mandarin Club.

A full and varied weekday evening activities, weekend boarding activities programmes and Sunday Trips are organised for all the pupils, whereas Sixth formers are given greater freedom to make their weekend plans.  Horse riding, go-karting, theatre visits and shopping are just some of the many students' regular excursions.  Each term concludes with a celebratory event referred to as a "Grove Weekend".  The Christmas Ball, Easter Banquet and Summer Silly Olympics are all large scales formal
